Abeth & Oliv
(Spain)

Probably the one or the other of you had the chance to meet Abeth Farag last year at Policoro in Swing. As founder of the vintage dance school "Swing Station” located in Lisbon and organizer of the “Atlantic Swing Festival”, her mission is to spread these wonderful dances all over the country. Abeth is not only full of energy, but full of ideas and a real source of inspiration always inventing new and playful choreographies. You can look forward to inspiring Vintage Jazz classes. Besides Vintage Jazz classes, Abeth will put the perfect dance tunes as DJ during our parties in order to guarantee that any foot will stand still. For sure you will see Abeth dancing even behind the mixing console!
Oliv Chort learned to dance in Montpellier in 2006 with Swingjammerz. His inspiration comes from artists like Frankie Manning, Al Minns, John Bubbles and the Nicholas Brothers. His teaching is based on strong fundamentals of rhythm and flow while giving a significant part in the musical. It will be his first time at Policoro in Swing and we are happy to have him and Abeth at Policoro in Swing 2016!

Gas & Alba

Policoro in Swing 2016 will also offer a Blues Dance workshop. How amazing is this? And do you know who is going to introduce you into the magic of Blues (and believe us it is really magical)? We proudly present Gas & Alba! Alba started swing dancing because the swing people were exactly the crowd she was looking for in a new city, with the time dancing on the dance floor led her to ecstasy. She loves all the different dance styles of the swing era: Lindy Hop, Blues, Authentic Jazz, all of which she trains in and teaches regularly. At Policoro in Swing you will have the chance to feel her passion for dance that she is eager to share with you. Gastón “Gas” Fernández is specialized in vintage dance styles including Lindy Hop, Charleston, authentic jazz, Balboa, Blues and Tango. As a former gymnast he is known in the swing dance community for his powerful acrobatics and aerials, while his background in Tango gives his blues style drama and strength, grounded in a sensitive connection with his partner. Gastón’s passion for swing has taken him around the world and he will be also present at Policoro in Swing in order to introduce you into the wonderful world of Blues. Blues lovers and those who want to become some, do you really want to miss this?

And he has introduced Aperitivo Swing, already popular in other Italian cities and in northern Europe. Uniquely, he has designed the “Rome Say’Swing”, an exhibition entirely dedicated to swing music and dances in America over the last 40 years. It first played on July 17, 2009 in the gardens of Castel Sant’Angelo at the event “Summer Reading.” The winter edition, held on 22, 23 and 24 January 2010, has seen the involvement of major actors, musicians, dancers and lovers of Italy. Chiara Silvestro
(Italy)

Chiara begins as a child with the modern jazz dance, tries african rhythms and studies for more then 10 years contemporary dance, performing with professional companies. Great fan of any kind of black music, she starts to dig in the afroamerican dance culture: she inspires her earlier productions to the musical shows from the 50's and 60's and then, moving back through the time, she finally lands in the Swing Era. When she met Lindy Hop she felt she found what she was looking for and when she discovered Charleston and Jazz Roots, she felt at home. Now she fell in love with Blues dance, solo and couple, and started to organize Blues classes and parties. From 2008 she travels to take part to festivals and competitions; from 2009 she teaches, runs events and produce shows. She has been one of the very first lindy hoppers in Torino and the absolute pioneer of Charleston and Jazz Roots scene. From 2014 she is member of the Dusty Jazz Association and co-organizer of Swing Train Festival.
